Speed Sessions

Would anybody be interested in doing speed work once a month either on a track or a flat route? I've always wanted to do that but I don't really know how and I'm not really motivated to do it on my own. It wouldn't have to be on a Saturday. Maybe we could do it mid-week on a lighted track.

Sounds interesting. I may be interested but finding the time will be difficult. What exactly did you have in mind? I did some speed work last year and earlier this year b/4 I hurt my knee. They can definately help your times. What are you defining as a speed session? I used to do like 1/4 fast then 1/8 mile slow and so on. Of course the distances could be whatever you want. Just asking because I've notices that everyone has a different idea of what a speed session is. I was also thinking of doing some work on one of those running trails that has various exercise stations. Not sure what they are called but they can get you into great overall shape. I know there is one up on Byeberry road but I can't remember the name of the park.

Perhaps we could amend a speed session to our regular runs? How long would it take?

I just participated in the Fast Tracks track-speed workout yesterday. There were about 40 runners at the Conestoga H.S. track. We went through a great workout for about 45 minutes. I know this venue is too far for some, but it is a good one. They will meet 3very Wednesday at 6:30PM, break up into about 4 groups based on pace and then do the workout. Yesterday we did a 10 minute warm-up, then alternated between 2 minutes fast and 3 minutres slow. We repeated that sequence 8 times then did a couple of slow cool down laps. It went very fast because of all the runners to meet and chat with.
